Plant a Seed, Read!

June 13–August 8, 2026

Come grow with the Long Beach Public Library (LBPL) this summer! Let your imagination bloom and new interests take root through books, challenges, and special library events. Uncover rewards as you read and complete activities to spark creativity and exploration throughout the summer.

From Saturday, June 13 to Saturday, August 8, 2026, readers of all ages can take part in the fun, with prizes, programs, and activities designed to entertain, inspire, and educate. Summer Reading is fun, free, and for all.

How to Register

Register by visiting the Long Beach Public Library's Beanstack page or any of our neighborhood libraries. Don’t forget to download the Beanstack app onto your phone or tablet from Google Play or the App Store to make tracking what you read even easier.

You can also register for Summer Reading by picking up a paper game sheet from any library location.

Prizes

For every 10 points, children will receive a small prize which includes books, meal vouchers and a final prize.

Every 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 points earned, participants will also receive a ticket for an opportunity drawing and a chance to win one of our grand prizes. Participants finish the entire challenge by earning 50 points.

Teens and Adults (12 and up)

Teens and adults read and complete activities throughout the summer. Each book finished earns 10 points and each activity earns 5 points.

For every 10 points along the way, participants earn a small prize and an opportunity drawing ticket for a chance to win one of our grand prizes. Participants finish the entire challenge by earning 50 points.

Grand prize winners will be selected on Saturday, August 15 and notified by phone or email.
