Burnett Neighborhood Library
The original Burnett Neighborhood Library was established in an upstairs room of Burnett Elementary School in 1910 and was the first branch library created by the city. After moving to several larger sites in the neighborhood, the library found its permanent location across the street from the school in 1924. The building was severely damaged in the 1933 earthquake and reopened again in 1938. The current library, a 7,500-square-foot building designed by architect Paul Tay, was dedicated in November 1969.
