Dana Neighborhood Library
The Dana Neighborhood Library started as California Heights Station at 913 Wardlow Road in 1928. After several moves to larger locations (and a name change in 1941), the library branch moved to its present location in May 1958. The library is named for Richard Henry Dana, Jr., the nineteenth-century lawyer, activist and author of Two Years Before the Mast, the classic memoir of Dana’s time working aboard a merchant ship called the Pilgrim, which sailed from Boston to California in the 1830s. The library is 6,800 square feet.
