Harte Neighborhood Library
The Bret Harte Neighborhood Library began as the West Willow Station in a one-room rented storeroom in January 1934. After several moves to larger locations (and a name change in 1941), a new 6,500-square-foot building was dedicated in August 1957 at the present location. The library is named for Bret Harte, a popular nineteenth-century writer known for his California Gold Rush stories.
