VETERANS DAY and BEACH STREETS Team-Up THIS YEAR

Celebrate, recognize and honor Veterans at the 2024 Long Beach Veterans Day Celebration, part of Beach Streets Uptown.

2024 VETERANS HUB


Beach Streets returns to Uptown Long Beach on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and features the City’s Veterans Day Celebration in Houghton Park. During Beach Streets Uptown, two major corridors, Atlantic Avenue, between South and Artesia, and Artesia Boulevard, between Atlantic and Cherry, will be closed to cars, and open to walking, biking, skateboarding and other forms of non-motorized transportation. Beach Streets, a free, family-friendly event, offers three entertainment hubs: the Library Hub, on Atlantic in front of the Michelle Obama Library, the Artesia Hub, showcasing the new bike corridor and other improvements that are part of the Artesia Great Boulevard Project, and the Veterans Hub in Houghton Park (6301 Myrtle Avenue). The Veterans Hub features:
  • JB Jaso, “2024 Veterans Day Celebration Grand Marshal”
  • All Day DJ sets by Mr. Quick (also event emcee)
  • Flyovers with historic aircraft (at 2 p.m.)
  • Food trucks and a beer garden
  • a boot camp style obstacle course
  • a Skate Zone with skate park demos and skateboarding lessons by Skate Dogs
  • Kids Zone with live performances by the Bob Baker Marionette Theater and DJ Mike, plus the Aquarium of the Pacific’s Aquarium on Wheels
  • Flu vaccinations
Veterans Recognition Ceremony Honorees
Individuals and organizations who have shown exemplary dedication to serving the local Veterans community will be recognized at the Veterans Recognition Ceremony, taking place at 2 p.m. This year's honorees include:  
  • JB Jaso, “2024 Veterans Day Celebration Grand Marshal”
  • Paralyzed Veterans of America California Chapter, “Outstanding Community Organization”
  • Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, California Chapter 33-12, “Outstanding Community Organization”
  • John Oppenheim, “Outstanding Volunteer”
Important Parking Information

Street parking for Beach Streets and the Veterans Hub is east of Houghton Park. ADA parking and the Paratransit drop off are located on Harding Street between Atlantic and Myrtle.
