Bay Shore Beach is located on the south western shore of Alamitos Bay, near the Belmont Shore, Naples, and Peninsula neighborhoods of Long Beach. Bay Shore is separated from the open ocean by the Alamitos Peninsula, ensuring calm, tranquil waters year-round, ideal for swimming and all types of water-based recreation. Bay Shore is a popular summer destination spot for families and people looking to stay active while enjoying the Southern California sun, as it offers a wide range of activities and recreational amenities for all ages.

During the summer months Bay Shore Avenue, which borders this beach area, is closed to traffic and becomes a promenade open to pedestrians, bicyclers, skateboarders, rollerbladers, and rollerskaters. There is a concession stand by the swim dock offering food, drinks, and a shady place to sit and picnic while the kids play in the sand or at the adjacent playground. The Bay Shore sport courts offer a great place to meet for some pickup basketball, a quick game of handball, or join a roller hockey team.

Bay Shore provides an ideal location for a relaxing dip in the designated swim area, right off the beach. Or for more advanced swimmers, a one-of-a-kind 500-yard open water swim course is demarcated by a swim line. Jump in and out of the water at will using the available swim dock. Bring your kayak, paddleboard, wind-surfing board, or other small crafts and launch from the available loading/unloading area and when you’re finished for the day, there is a wash down area provided to clean up before packing up. Rentals are also available from the concession area.

Public restrooms and beach showers are available at either end of the beach.
