Business Ops Bureau

The Business Operations Bureau includes four divisions - Finance and Facilities DivisionPersonnel DivisionWellness Division, and Contracts and Grants Division.

Finance and Facilities Division

The Finance and Facilities Division is responsible for processing purchase orders for payment, issuing billings, preparing the annual budget and monitoring its execution, and performing financial analyses. The division is responsible for maintaining and refurbishing each facility under the purview of the police department.

Personnel Division

The Personnel Division is responsible for the department’s human resources, including hiring, evaluations, professional development, and promotions as well as ensuring employee pay and benefits.

Live Scan

Live Scan is digital fingerprinting that is utilized for criminal background checks. Long Beach Police Department provides Live Scan services to the public for state licensing, employment, adoptions/foster care, etc. The current fee for this service is $32.00, payable in cash or check only. Credit cards are not accepted. Additional fees for criminal history processing by the California Department of Justice and/or Federal Bureau of Investigation are also payable at the time the Live Scan is performed.

Live Scan services are provided to the public by appointment only during the following days and times:

Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 2:00PM

Live Scan services for city employees, city employee applicants, and volunteers are completed on a walk-in basis during the following hours:

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Tuesday & Thursday 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM
Employees may also request an appointment if needed.

Wellness Division

The Wellness Division oversees a comprehensive trauma-informed wellness program geared to the types of stressors, trauma, and work conditions common in law enforcement profession. This division also oversees worker’s compensation and employee leaves of absence.

Contracts and Grants Division

The Contracts and Grants Division is responsible for enhancing the management, administration, and financial oversight of grants, service contracts, and interdepartmental MOUs.
