
Jami Kerr
Wellness Administrator
Administrator Kerr was appointed as the Department’s
Wellness Administrator in August 2023. As part of the
Department’s Command Staff, she is responsible for
enhancing the Department’s occupational safety, health,
and leaves programs while ensuring superior customer
service for personnel utilizing these programs. She
oversees the creation of a comprehensive traumainformed wellness program geared to the types of stressors, trauma, and work conditions common in law enforcement environments.
Administrator Kerr brings over 15 years of human
resources and operational management experience in
budget, sales, project management, and hospitality. She
began her human resource management career with
Marriott International, supporting over 700 employees.
Her primary focus was employee relations, mentorship programs, and training. She joined the Department of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Communications in 2016 and managed leave administration, payroll, and personnel-related matters for the City’s Public Safety Dispatchers. In 2020, Administrator Kerr joined the Civil Service Department, where she developed and administered classified exams, assisted with budget, personnel functions, and facilitated citywide training classes.
Administrator Kerr was also Vice President of the Long Beach Association of Confidential Employees. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a concentration in Social Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles.
