The Long Beach Police Department investigates all missing person reports until the person is found or determined to be a voluntarily missing. Law enforcement has an ethical and professional responsibility to take each report involving a missing person seriously.
According to California Department of Justice guidelines, the investigating agency is normally the agency with jurisdiction of the area the missing person lives. If the missing person does not reside in Long Beach, a courtesy report will be taken and forwarded to the law enforcement agencies where the missing person lives and was last seen.
If you have knowledge of the whereabouts of anyone who has been reported missing or runaway, please contact the Long Beach Police Department at 9-1-1 (only if an emergency exists) or Police Dispatch at 562-435-6711.
The Long Beach Police Department does not have the authority or the resources to find uprooted friends or relatives who have lost contact with each other. Those individuals should seek other public or private resources.
