Detectives have made arrests related to multiple burglary and vandalism incidents that occurred between April 6 and April 26, 2025.
Detectives have been investigating a series of incidents, which they have determined follow similar circumstances and have similar suspect descriptions. In each of the incidents, approximately six juvenile suspects shattered glass doors or windows of businesses. In at least two incidents, the suspects utilized a stolen vehicle for transportation.
Detectives believe the suspects are responsible for incidents at the following locations:
- 4/6/2025 – 5689 Paramount Boulevard – Broken glass door
- 4/8/2025 – 4558 Atlantic Avenue – Broken glass door, loss of EBT machine
- 4/12/2025 – 6440 East Pacific Coast Highway – Damaged window
- 4/23/2025 – 6440 East Pacific Coast Highway – Broken glass door, damage to register and receipt machine, loss of merchandise
- 4/26/2025 – 5013 East 2nd Street – Damage to window
- 4/26/2025 – 5001 East 2nd Street – Broken glass door, damage to registers, miscellaneous baked goods.
Burglary detectives conducted a detailed investigation that included speaking with business owners, reviewing surveillance footage, and canvassing for additional evidence related to the crimes, ultimately leading to identifying multiple suspects.
Detectives have arrested two of the suspects believed to be responsible for the burglaries:
On May 12, 2025, Burglary detectives served a search warrant at the suspect’s residence and arrested a 13-year-old male resident of Long Beach. The suspect was then transported to the Long Beach City Jail, where he was booked for commercial burglary, possession of a stolen vehicle, and felony vandalism. The suspect was subsequently released due to being a juvenile.
On May 12, 2025, Burglary detectives served a search warrant at a 12-year-old suspect’s residence in Long Beach. The 12-year-old suspect was not present, but turned himself in at the Public Safety Building at 400 West Broadway on May 13, where he was booked for commercial burglary and possession of a stolen vehicle. The suspect was subsequently released due to being a juvenile.
Detectives continue to work tirelessly towards the identification and arrest of the outstanding suspects.
“I want to commend our officers and detectives for their work in identifying and arresting the individuals responsible for these crimes,” said LBPD Chief Wally Hebeish. “I also want to thank the affected businesses for their cooperation throughout the investigation. These arrests should serve as a reminder that if you choose to engage in criminal activity in our city, you will be held accountable. We remain committed to protecting our entire community and addressing unlawful behavior appropriately.”
These cases will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office for filing consideration.
