Since July 14, 2025, detectives conducted a coordinated operation leading to the arrest of two suspects and the seizure of seven vehicles involved in a commercial burglary and illegal street racing takeover incident.
Detectives have been investigating a July 14, 2025, incident at the intersection of Orange Avenue and Harding Street in which a commercial burglary took place in conjunction with an illegal street racing takeover. Burglary detectives conducted a detailed investigation that included speaking with business owners, reviewing security footage, and canvassing for additional evidence related to the crimes, which ultimately lead to identifying a suspect and multiple suspect vehicles.
Burglary and Auto Theft detectives obtained an arrest warrant for an identified suspect and seizure warrants for identified suspect vehicles. Detectives, in collaboration with the High Crime Focus team and patrol, conducted an operation to take them into custody.
Arrest and seizure warrants were served in multiple cities, including Long Beach, Lakewood, Santa Ana, Inglewood, and Bell Gardens.
Through the course of the operation, seven vehicles identified with illegal street racing takeovers were seized.
Detectives identified and safely arrested the following suspects involved in this incident:
- Tonjai Webster Jr., a 20-year-old resident of Los Angeles, was arrested and booked for commercial burglary.
- Christopher J. Villegas, a 20-year-old resident of Lakewood, was arrested and booked for felony vandalism related to street racing.
"Our community was concerned by the actions that took place on July 14th and the Long Beach Police Department has responded with focused and direct action,” said Chief of Police Wally Hebeish. “The outstanding work of our detectives and police officers has led to the arrest of suspects responsible for vandalism and burglary, as well as the seizure of vehicles from the illegal “street racing” event. We will not accept dangerous and criminal behavior like this in our city, and those participating in any type of illegal motor vehicle gatherings or associated crimes will be identified and arrested.”
These cases will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office for filing consideration.
Detectives continue to pursue all investigative leads to identify and arrest suspects involved in this incident.
