Collision Investigation Detectives are investigating a traffic collision that occurred on June 14, 2024, which resulted in the death of a male adult pedestrian.
At approximately 10:38 p.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of Carson Street and Gundry Avenue regarding a traffic collision.
Upon arrival, officers discovered an unconscious male adult pedestrian in the roadway suffering from serious injuries. Officers rendered medical aid, until personnel from the Long Beach Fire Department arrived and determined the pedestrian deceased.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a vehicle was traveling eastbound on Carson Street west of Gundry Avenue when it struck the pedestrian, who was crossing Carson Street outside of a crosswalk. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Speed, distracted driving, and driver impairment are not believed to be factors in the collision.
The identity of the pedestrian is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin by the Los Angeles County Department of the Medical Examiner.
