The Long Beach Police Department is proud to host two leadership programs this summer, reinforcing its commitment to developing the next generation of community leaders and strengthening trust between law enforcement and youth.
This summer, LBPD will offer a Youth Leadership Academy (YLA) and Female Leadership Academy (FLA). Both weeklong, free programs are open to Long Beach high school students and designed to build essential leadership skills, promote personal growth, and foster positive relationships with public safety professionals.
Program Details
Youth Leadership Academy (YLA)
- Monday, June 15 – Friday, June 19, 2026
- 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- Wilson High School
Female Leadership Academy (FLA)
- Monday, June 22 – Friday, June 26, 2026
- 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- Jordan High School
“The LBPD believes investing in our youth is one of the most powerful ways to build a safer, stronger, and more connected community,” said Police Chief Wally Hebeish. “These programs give Long Beach high school students an opportunity to build leadership skills and strengthen their connection with our department.”
Participants will engage in dynamic workshops, interactive discussions, and team-building activities focused on leadership principles, conflict resolution, community engagement, and career pathways in public safety. Each day will highlight one of LBPD’s core values: Respect, Accountability, Compassion, Integrity, and Service.
Lunch and snacks will be provided daily. Space is limited to 50 students per academy.
