The Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) has again awarded the Long Beach Police Department's Vice Investigations Section a $50,000 Grant in order to maintain a positive working relationship with the owners and employees of ABC licensed establishments, patrol officers and the community. All three entities must continually be educated regarding their roles and responsibilities and the appropriate enforcement actions that may be taken. Education is an ally in the Department’s primary mission to reduce crime and make Long Beach the safest large city in the state. With the assistance of the ABC grant our objectives can be advanced; particularly in a large city with a high volume of ABC licensed establishments.
The grant funding will allow the Department to supplement the Vice Investigations Section with additional resources to increase training, education and enforcement efforts. The benefits of the ABC grant could offset budgetary personnel constraints and would have an overall positive impact on Long Beach residents, visitors, and business owners.
With compassion and the utmost concern, the Department is continually striving to ensure the safety and welfare of all Long Beach residents and visitors by providing responsive and professional police services. Alcohol consumption and abuse at problematic ABC locations is one factor that creates a public nuisance and negative impact on the overall quality of life within our communities. The Department will continue to use resources as efficiently as possible to address problematic ABC premises.
