On July 11, 2021, at approximately 9:13 a.m., officers were dispatched to a report of shots fired in the 300 block of East 17th Street, which later resulted in the death of a male adult.
Officers arrived on scene and located a male adult victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to the upper and lower torso. They immediately began performing life-saving measures until Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene to render aid. The victim was transported by ambulance to an area hospital where he was listed in critical condition. Later that evening, at approximately 7:00 p.m., Homicide Detectives responded to the scene after receiving notification the victim succumbed to his injuries.
The victim has been identified as Bernardo Solorio, a 37-year-old Long Beach resident.
The preliminary investigation suggests a male suspect followed the victim on foot to an apartment complex.
