Update 10/30/2025:
Homicide detectives have made an arrest regarding the July 17 murder of Martin Segura, a 40-year-old person experiencing homelessness.
Homicide detectives identified Andrew Lozano, a 31-year-old person experiencing homelessness, as the suspect responsible for the murder. The motive and circumstances of the incident are under investigation.
On Oct. 29, 2025, Special Investigations Division detectives located and arrested Lozano in the city of Long Beach. He was booked for an outstanding, unrelated warrant. On Oct. 30, 2025, he was rebooked for murder. Bail was set at $2,000,000.
Detectives will present the case to the Los Angeles District Attorney's office for filing consideration.

Homicide detectives are investigating the murder of a male adult that occurred on July 16, 2025 near the Los Angeles Riverbed and the 91 freeway.
On July 16, 2025 at approximately 11:18 a.m., officers responded to the Los Angeles Riverbed near the 91 freeway to assist the Long Beach Fire Department regarding a dead body. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim with a gunshot wound to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel determined the victim deceased.
Homicide detectives responded to the scene. The motive for the shooting and the circumstances of the incident are currently under investigation.
The victim is a male adult who appeared to be experiencing homelessness. His identity is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin by the Los Angeles County Department of the Medical Examiner.
