Homicide detectives have made an arrest regarding the Dec. 10, 2024 murder of Dwayne Walton, a 32-year-old resident of Los Angeles.
Through their investigation, Homicide detectives identified the suspect as Mario Amarion Jennings, an 18-year-old resident of Rancho Cucamonga. On Jan. 30, 2025, Special Investigations Detectives, with the assistance of the San Bernadino County Sheriff’s Department SWAT team, arrested Jennings in the city of Rancho Cucamonga.
Jennings was transported to Long Beach City Jail, where he was booked for murder. Bail was set at $3,000,000 bail.
The motive and circumstances of the incident are still under investigation.

Homicide detectives are investigating the murder of a male adult victim that occurred on Dec. 10, 2024 in the 900 block of Via Carmelitos.
At approximately 1:14 p.m., officers responded to the 900 block of Via Carmelitos regarding a shots call. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim with life-threatening gunshot wounds. Officers rendered medical aid until being relieved by Long Beach Fire Department personnel, who determined the victim deceased at the scene.
Homicide detectives responded to the scene. The motive for the shooting and circumstances of the incident are still under investigation.
The victim has been identified as Dwayne Walton, a 32-year-old resident of Los Angeles.
