Homicide detectives have made an arrest related to the murder of a male adult victim that occurred on December 7, 2025, in the 1700 block of Newport Avenue.
At approximately 1:47 a.m., officers responded to the 1700 block of Newport Avenue regarding a traffic collision. Upon arrival, officers located an unconscious male adult in the roadway.
Officers rendered medical aid until Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived and assumed care. The victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Homicide detectives responded to the scene. The preliminary investigation indicates the victim and the suspect engaged in a verbal dispute prior to the collision. Following the dispute, the victim crossed Newport Avenue on foot outside the crosswalk, walking from east to west. While on the roadway the suspect intentionally struck the victim with his vehicle. The vehicle, described as a dark 4-door sedan, did not stop and fled the scene, continuing southbound on Newport Avenue and westbound on Wilton Street.
Through their investigation, Homicide detectives identified the suspect as Isai Solis, a 28-year-old resident from the city of Lynwood. On December 7, 2025, Special Investigation Detectives located and arrested Solis on the 12400 block of Sante Fe Avenue in the City of Lynwood. Solis was booked for murder, and his bail was set at $2,000,000.
The victim was identified as Samuel Ocegueda, a 28-year-old-resident from the city of Long Beach.
The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration.
