Homicide detectives have arrested two suspects for the child abuse and murder of a 14-month-old girl.
On Nov. 7, 2025, officers responded to a hospital regarding a possible child abuse incident. The 14-month-old girl had been unresponsive and had signs of trauma.
Child Abuse detectives responded and began coordinating with the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS).
Later that day, detectives were notified by medical staff that the child was on life support and would not survive. Homicide detectives responded and coordinated further investigation with Child Abuse detectives, DCFS, and patrol officers.
On Nov. 10, 2025, the child died at the hospital. Her identity is being withheld due to her age.
For the last two weeks, the Homicide Detail has continuously investigated this incident. Through their continued investigation, Homicide detectives determined there had been on-going abuse to the child and the victim’s death was a result of abuse from her father and stepmother.
Both suspects were arrested on Nov. 25, 2025 and booked into the Long Beach City Jail with no bail.
- Alfredo Munoz, 40-year-old resident of Long Beach, was booked for murder, torture, and child abuse causing death.
- Kelly Munoz, 34-year-old resident of Long Beach, was booked for murder, torture, and child abuse causing death.
Homicide detectives will present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office next week for filing consideration.
