Update 8/14/25:
Homicide detectives have made another arrest regarding the March 11, 2025 murder of Chamrong Sok.
Through their investigation, Homicide detectives identified a second suspect as Brandon Brewington, a 36-year-old resident of Long Beach. Homicide detectives learned that Brewington was in custody on an unrelated charge.
On Aug. 14, 2025 Brewington was arraigned for murder.
Detectives believe both suspects, Thongsay Ky and Brandon Brewington, were involved in a physical altercation with the victim. The motive remains under investigation.
Homicide detectives presented the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration.

Homicide detectives are investigating the murder of a male adult that occurred on March 11, 2025 in the 1000 block of Pacific Coast Highway.
On March 11, 2025, at 7:32 p.m., officers responded to a local hospital regarding a male adult victim who was transported by Long Beach Fire Department personnel with injuries to his upper body. The victim was uncooperative in providing details of the incident, however indicated that he was assaulted in a parking lot in the area of Anaheim Street.
On April 24, 2025 the victim succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.
On April 30, 2025 Homicide detectives were notified of thedeath of the victim.
On May 22, 2025 the Los Angeles County Department of the Medical Examiner ruled his death a homicide.
Through their investigation, detectives identified the suspect as Thongsay Ky, a 58-year-old person experiencing homelessness.
On July 2, 2025 at 8:09 a.m., detectives assigned to the Special Investigations Division located and arrested Ky inside his vehicle near the 1400 block of South Harbor Scenic Drive. Ky was booked for murder and his bail was set at $2,000,000.
The motive remains under investigation.
The decedent was identified as Chamrong Sok, a 52-year-old person experiencing homelessness.
Detectives will present the case later this week to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration.
