The LBPD is announcing the arrest and no contest plea of the suspect responsible for the Sept. 23, 2025 armed robbery at a convenience store in downtown Long Beach.
On Sept. 23, 2025, at approximately 2:03 a.m., employees from the business located at 152 Pine Avenue contacted officers working in the area and reported a robbery which had just occurred. Officers were told that the armed suspect was still inside of the business and had possibly fled into the manager’s office.
The Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team responded to the scene. They secured the area, obtained a search warrant, and conducted an extensive search; however, they were unable to locate the suspect.
Detectives took over the investigation, collected evidence, and worked to identify the suspect. Through their efforts, they identified Saveon McQuincey King, a 21-year-old resident of Los Angeles, as the suspect.
On Sept. 30, 2025, detectives located Suspect King at a bus station in the city of Los Angeles. He was arrested without incident and transported to Long Beach City Jail. He was booked for robbery, felon in possession of a firearm, violation of parole, and assault with a firearm.
On Oct. 2, 2025, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed two counts of robbery and one count of burglary against Suspect King.
On Oct. 9, 2025, Suspect King took the plea deal that was offered. He will serve six years in state prison.

From the initial response, search, and subsequent investigation, they have worked nonstop to identify and arrest this individual. Thanks to their efforts and those of our partners at the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, this suspect will no longer be able to victimize our community.”
A statement from Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman: “I commend the Long Beach Police Department for their relentless and skillful work in apprehending Saveon King after he robbed a convenience store in Long Beach. King pleaded no contest to one felony count of robbery, admitted a prior strike conviction, and was sentenced to six years in state prison. I also thank our Long Beach Branch team for their dedication in prosecuting this case and ensuring the community is safer.”
