Sex Crimes detectives have arrested a suspect responsible for a sexual assault incident and believe there may be additional victims related to other potential incidents.
Through their investigation, Sex Crimes detectives identified the suspect as Alvin Marbra, a 29-year-old person experiencing homelessness, who they believe is responsible for an incident that occurred on July 1, 2025.
On July 1, 2025, at approximately 2:37 a.m., a female adult victim was walking in the area of Alamitos Avenue and 4th Street when she was approached by Marbra, who physically assaulted her, causing her to lose consciousness and sexually assaulted her.
Through the use of security camera footage, later that afternoon at approximately 12:45 p.m., detectives were able to locate the suspect in the area of 4th Street and Cherry Avenue where he was taken into custody.
He was transported to the Long Beach City Jail where he was booked for rape, assault with intent to rape, and assault with a deadly weapon. Bail was set $100,000.
“This alarming criminal act is deeply concerning, and the response of our officers and detectives underscores LBPD’s commitment to identifying and arresting individuals responsible for harming others”, said Chief of Police Wally Hebeish. “The work of the responding officers and handling detectives, coupled with our strategic use of technology and security video, allowed us to swiftly identify and arrest the suspect believed to be responsible for this heinous sexual assault. The LBPD will continue to pursue and arrest any individual involved in victimizing our community, and we will use all available resources to hold them accountable.”
