Collision Investigation Detail detectives are investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred on Aug. 15, 2025, later resulting in the death of a male adult.

On Aug. 15, 2025 at approximately 2:00 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of 31st Street and Atlantic Avenue regarding an injury hit-and-run traffic collision involving a pedestrian.

Upon arrival, officers observed Long Beach Fire Department personnel treating a male adult pedestrian, who was then transported to a local hospital in critical condition. The pedestrian succumbed to his injuries two days later.

On Sept. 19, 2025, detectives were notified of the death of the pedestrian.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a white Chrysler was traveling southbound on Atlantic Avenue when it struck a pedestrian who was in the roadway. Following the collision, the Chrysler continued southbound, failing to stop and render aid.

The pedestrian is only being identified as an adult male resident of Long Beach, pending notification of the next of kin by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.
