Collision Investigation Detectives are investigating a traffic collision that occurred on June 27, 2025 which resulted in the death of a female adult.
At approximately 8:57 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of 71st Street and Orange Avenue regarding an injury traffic collision involving a pedestrian.
Upon arrival, officers observed personnel from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and Los Angeles County Fire Department on scene. A female adult pedestrian was transported to a local hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
The preliminary investigation revealed a 2005 Dodge Ram pickup truck, driven by a 38-year-old resident of Long Beach, was traveling northbound on Orange Avenue when it collided with the pedestrian. The pedestrian, a 78-year-old resident of Long Beach, was crossing Orange Avenue; however, it is unclear at this time if she was crossing at the intersection or mid-block.
Speed, distracted driving, and impaired driving do not appear to be factors in the collision.
The decedent's identification is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's office.
