Collision Investigation detectives are investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred on May 19, 2026, resulting in the death of a male adult.

At approximately 8:36 a.m., officers responded to the area of 7th Street and Orizaba Avenue regarding a subject who fell off their scooter.

When officers arrived, personnel from the Long Beach Fire Department were providing medical aid on the male adult. He was transported to a local hospital and later succumbed to his injuries.

The preliminary investigation revealed the man was riding his motorized scooter westbound on 7th Street on the north sidewalk, towards Orizaba Avenue, when he lost control, fell off the scooter and sustained injuries.

At this time, speed, distracted driving, and driving under the influence are not believed to be factors in the collision.

The identity of the decedent is being withheld pending identification and notification of the next of kin by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office.
