Collision Investigation Detail detectives are investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred on March 11, 2026, which later resulted in the death of a male adult.

On March 11, at approximately 7:35 p.m., officers responded to an injury traffic collision near the intersection of Anaheim Street and Redondo Avenue, involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

Upon arrival, officers located a male adult pedestrian lying in the roadway between Redondo Avenue and Coronado Avenue. Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported the pedestrian to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2011 Toyota Camry was traveling westbound on Anaheim Street towards Redondo Avenue when it struck a pedestrian walking northbound outside a crosswalk on Redondo Avenue.

The driver of the Camry remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.

On March 12, the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Detectives were notified of the death on March 16, 2026.

At this time, neither speed, distracted driving, nor impaired driving are believed to be factors in this collision.

The pedestrian was identified as Daren Duane Roland, a 65-year-old resident of Long Beach.
