Collision Investigation Detail detectives are investigating a traffic collision that occurred on March 8, 2025 which resulted in the death of a female adult.
On March 8, 2025 at approximately 8:29 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Atlantic Avenue and Harding Street regarding an injury traffic collision. The preliminary investigation revealed a 2022 Chrysler 300, driven by a male adult, was traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on Atlantic Avenue, when it struck a 2010 Pontiac G6 making a westbound turn onto Harding Street from northbound Atlantic Avenue. The collision sent both vehicles into the southwest corner, where the Chrysler 300 then struck a private sign and a cinder block wall.
Both drivers were transported to a local hospital to be treated for their injuries.
On April 6, 2025, the Long Beach Police Department was notified that the driver of the Pontiac G6 succumbed to injuries she sustained in the collision. She has been identified as Kay Lynn Dehorney, a 58-year-old resident of Long Beach.
At this time, speed is considered a contributing factor in the collision.
