Collision Investigation Detail detectives are investigating a traffic collision that occurred on Jan. 20, 2025 which resulted in the death of a male adult. 

On Jan. 20, 2025, at approximately 12:15 p.m., officers responded to the area of Atlantic Avenue and Pleasant Street regarding an injury traffic collision between a vehicle and a bicyclist. 

When officers arrived on scene, the bicyclist was being treated for his injuries by Long Beach Fire Department personnel. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. 

The preliminary investigation revealed the bicyclist was traveling northbound on Atlantic Avenue and was merging from the bicycle lane to the number one lane. A white SUV, traveling northbound in the number two lane, sideswiped the bicyclist and continued northbound without stopping. 

On Jan. 21, 2025, Collision Investigation Detectives were notified the bicyclist had succumbed to his injuries while at the hospital. 

The bicyclist was identified as Enrique Barajas, an 80-year-old resident of Long Beach.
