The Long Beach Police Department is investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred on March 30, 2025, and later resulted in the death of a male pedestrian.
On March 30, 2025, at approximately 3:16 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Cedar Avenue and Anaheim Street regarding a traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers located the pedestrian, who was conscious and able to speak with officers. Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported the pedestrian to a local hospital.
On August 13, 2025, Collision Investigation Detail detectives were notified that the pedestrian had succumbed to his injuries a month after the incident.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a Chevrolet sedan made a left turn onto Anaheim Street from Cedar Avenue and struck the pedestrian, who was in the crosswalk. The driver of the Chevrolet remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.
The pedestrian has been identified as Marcos Duarte-Gonzalez, a resident of Long Beach.
