Collision Investigation detectives are investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred on April 4, 2026, resulting in the death of a male adult.

At approximately 7:52 p.m., officers responded to the area of Pacific Place and West Wardlow Road regarding an injury traffic collision.

Upon arrival, officers observed personnel from the Long Beach Fire Department rendering medical aid to a male adult pedestrian in the roadway. Despite lifesaving efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and was determined deceased at the scene.

The preliminary investigation indicates the driver of a 2025 Subaru Crosstrek was traveling southbound on Pacific Place in the number one lane when he struck a pedestrian walking in the roadway, outside of a marked cross walk.

The male adult driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.

At this time, speed, distracted driving, and driving under the influence are not believed to be factors in the collision.

The identity of the decedent is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin by the Los Angeles County Department of the Medical Examiner’s office.
