Collision Investigation detectives are investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred on Dec. 23, 2025, resulting in the death of a male adult.

At approximately 10:36 p.m., officers responded to the area of West Willow Street and Maine Avenue regarding an injury traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle.

Long Beach Fire Department personnel performed life-saving measures and transported the pedestrian to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The preliminary investigation indicated that a 2023 Toyota RAV4 was travelling westbound on West Willow Street when it struck the pedestrian, who was crossing the street, northbound in the intersection. It is not yet determined if the pedestrian was crossing within the unmarked crosswalk of the intersection.

The driver remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.

Speed, distracted driving, and impaired driving do not appear to have contributed to this collision.

The identity of the decedent is pending identification by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.
