Collision Investigation Detail detectives are investigating a traffic collision that occurred on June 18, 2025 which resulted in the death of a male adult.
At approximately 6:40 a.m., officers responded to the 2600 block of Pier T Avenue regarding an injury traffic collision involving two semi-trucks.
When officers arrived, Long Beach Fire Department personnel were already tending to a male adult. Despite their efforts, the man was determined to be deceased from injuries sustained during the collision.
The preliminary investigation revealed the man had stopped his semi-truck along the south curb line of Pier T Avenue. He had exited the cab of his truck and was standing next to the engine compartment when it was rear-ended by another semi-truck. The force of the impact caused the man to fall to the ground at which point he was run over by his semi-truck. The other driver remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.
At this time, neither speed, distracted driving, nor impaired driving appear to be factors in the collision.
The identity of the decedent is being withheld, pending notification of the next of kin by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.
