Collision Investigation Detail detectives are investigating a traffic collision that occurred on May 15, 2025 which resulted in the death of a male adult.
On May 15, 2025 at approximately 2:38 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of East 7th Street and Channel Drive regarding an injury traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
Upon arrival, officers found an adult male pedestrian in the roadway. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded and determined the pedestrian to be deceased on scene.
The preliminary investigation indicates a 28-year-old resident of Garden Grove was traveling eastbound on East 7th Street and struck a pedestrian who was lying in the roadway. The driver remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.
At this time, speed, impaired driving and distracted driving do not appear to be factors in the collision.
The Los Angeles County Department of the Medical Examiner will identify the decedent and notify the next of kin.
