On June 2, 2025, Collision Investigation detectives were notified of a second fatality regarding an injury traffic collision that occurred on May 23, 2025.

Collision Investigation Detail detectives are investigating a traffic collision that occurred on May 23, 2025 which resulted in the death of a female adult.
On May 23, 2025 at approximately 11:53 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of 12th Street and Long Beach Boulevard regarding an injury traffic collision involving the Metro Train and two vehicles.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded and transported the driver and passengers of the 2014 Infinity Q50s to local hospitals, where the driver of the Infinity later succumbed to her injuries.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the female adult driver of the 2014 Infinity Q50S, was traveling southbound in lane #2 on Long Beach Boulevard just north of Anaheim Street at a high rate of speed with no headlights on. A 2019 Honda Civic driven by a 29-year-old male resident of Long Beach made a southbound turn from Anaheim Street to Long Beach Boulevard in front of the Infinity. The driver of the 2019 Honda Civic swerved out of the way to avoid being rear-ended and collided with a guardrail. The driver of the Infinity Q50S swerved into lane #1 to avoid the collision but lost control and collided into the Metro Train.
The driver of the Honda Civic remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.
Speed and impaired driving are being investigated as potential factors in this collision regarding the driver of the Infinity.
The female adult driver is only being identified as a 21-year-old resident of Compton, pending notification of the next of kin by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office.
