Collision Investigation detectives are investigating an injury traffic collision that occurred on Dec. 23, 2025, which later resulted in the death of a 16-year-old female passenger.
On Dec. 23, 2025, at approximately 8:20 p.m., officers responded to the area of Long Beach Boulevard and Wardlow Road regarding an injury traffic collision involving two vehicles.
Upon arrival, officers located a 16-year-old female passenger and a 17-year-old male driver of a 2007 Saturn Aura (Party 1). Long Beach Fire Department personnel rendered medical aid and transported both individuals to a local hospital, where they were reported to be in critical condition.
Officers also contacted the driver of a 2021 Jeep Wrangler (Party 2), who was uninjured and remained at the scene, cooperating with the investigation.
The preliminary investigation indicates that Party 1 and Party 2 were traveling southbound on Long Beach Boulevard, south of Wardlow Road. Party 1 was making a lane change and collided with Party 2.
Speed and distracted driving may have been contributing factors to this collision.
On Dec. 24, 2025, detectives were notified of the death of the passenger.
The identity of the decedent is being withheld due to her age.
