Collision Investigation Detail detectives are investigating a traffic collision that occurred on June 21, 2025 which resulted in the death of a male adult.
At approximately 9:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Ocean Boulevard and Falcon Avenue regarding a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
Upon arrival, officers located a male adult pedestrian in the roadway. Long Beach Fire Department personnel determined the male adult deceased at the scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed an unknown dark colored sedan was traveling eastbound on Ocean Boulevard when it struck an adult male pedestrian in a marked crosswalk at the intersection of Falcon Avenue. The driver immediately fled the collision.
A 2016 BMW X3 driven by a 59-year-old resident of Tustin was traveling eastbound on Ocean Boulevard when it struck the pedestrian lying in the roadway. This driver immediately pulled over after they realized they were involved in a collision. After this collision, a third vehicle (a dark colored sedan) traveling eastbound on Ocean Boulevard struck the pedestrian in the roadway and immediately fled the scene.
The driver of the BMW X3 remained on-scene and cooperated with the investigation.
At this time speed and distracted driving are being considered as contributing factors in the collision involving the vehicles which fled the scene.
The Los Angeles County Department of the Medical Examiner will identify the decedent and notify the next of kin.
