Collision Investigation detectives are investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred on Jan. 27, 2026, resulting in the death of a female adult.

At approximately 5:57 a.m., officers responded to the area of Pacific Coast Highway and Gundry Avenue regarding an injury traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

The driver of the involved vehicle rendered medical aid to the pedestrian until Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene. LBFD transported the pedestrian to a local hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2024 Chevy Colorado was driving westbound on Pacific Coast Highway and collided with a pedestrian who was walking north across Pacific Coast Highway, outside of a marked crosswalk.

The driver remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. Speed, distracted driving, and impaired driving do not appear to have contributed to this collision.

The identity of the decedent is pending identification by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.
