Collision Investigation Detectives are investigating a traffic collision that occurred in the area of Pacific Coast Highway and Maine Avenue on Feb. 18, 2026, which resulted in the death of a male adult.
At approximately 9:29 p.m., officers responded to an injury traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unconscious male lying in the roadway. Officers provided medical aid until the Long Beach Fire Department arrived on scene. The pedestrian succumbed to his injuries on scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed a white 2006 Chevy Trailblazer, was travelling eastbound on Pacific Coast Highway, just east of Maine Avenue, when it collided with the male pedestrian, who was crossing the street outside a crosswalk.
The driver remained on scene and was cooperative with the investigation.
At this time, speed, distracted driving, and impaired driving do not appear to have contributed to this collision.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending the notification of the next of kin by the Los Angeles County Department of the Medical Examiner.
