Collision Investigation detectives are investigating a collision that occurred on Sept. 19, 2024, which resulted in the death of a male adult pedestrian.
At approximately, 11:51 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Pacific Coast Highway and Pasadena Avenue regarding an inquiry traffic collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian.
Upon arrival, officers contacted a male pedestrian laying in the roadway. Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and transported the pedestrian to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The preliminary investigation revealed a Lexus sedan was driving west on Pacific Coast Highway and collided with a pedestrian crossing south across Pacific Coast Highway outside of a marked crosswalk.
The driver remained on-scene and cooperated with the investigation.
Information regarding the decedent is being withheld at this time pending notification of next of kin.
Speed, distracted driving, and impaired driving do not appear to have contributed to this collision.
