Collision Investigation Detail detectives are investigating a traffic collision that occurred on May 18, 2025 which resulted in the death of a male adult.

On May 18, 2025 at approximately 8:59 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Pacific Coast Highway and Santa Fe Avenue regarding a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

Upon arrival, officers located a male adult pedestrian in the roadway. Long Beach Fire Department personnel determined the male adult deceased at the scene.

The preliminary investigation revealed a 2016 Toyota Scion, driven by a 27-year-old resident of Wilmington was traveling westbound on Pacific Coast Highway when it struck an adult male pedestrian who was crossing Pacific Coast Highway outside of a marked crosswalk. Immediately after this collision, a 2008 Mazda 3 driven by a 50-year-old resident of Long Beach was traveling westbound on Pacific Coast Highway when it struck the pedestrian in the roadway. Both drivers remained on-scene and cooperated with the investigation.

At this time, speed, distracted driving, and impaired driving are not being considered as contributing factors in the collision.

The male adult pedestrian is only being identified as a 47-year-old resident of Ontario, pending notification of the next of kin by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office.
