UPDATE 2/11/2026:
Detectives have arrested the driver responsible for the Feb. 7, 2026 hit-and-run traffic fatality at 2nd Street and Redondo Avenue.
Through their investigation, detectives identified the driver as Christopher Bryant, a 40-year-old resident of Los Angeles. On Feb. 11, 2026, Bryant turned himself in at the Public Safety Building. He was booked for vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence, hit-and-run involving death/great bodily injury, and reckless driving. His bail was set at $50,000.

Collision Investigation detectives are investigating a fatal hit-and-run traffic collision that occurred on Feb. 7, 2026, resulting in the death of a female adult.
At approximately 4:48 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Redondo Avenue and East 2nd Street regarding an injury hit-and-run traffic collision involving a vehicle and a bicyclist.
Upon arrival, officers located an adult female bicyclist and a bystander who was rendering aid. Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and transported the bicyclist to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the bicyclist was travelling southbound on Redondo Avenue when she entered the intersection with East 2nd Street. A 2025 gray Hyundai Sonata was traveling westbound on East 2nd Street. The Hyundai Sonata entered the intersection with Redondo Avenue at a high rate of speed. The vehicle did not stop at the stop sign and collided into the bicyclist.
The Hyundai Sonata fled the scene and was last seen travelling westbound on East 2nd Street from Redondo Avenue.
Speed is being investigated as a contributing factor to this collision.
The identity of the decedent is being withheld pending notification of next of kin by the Los Angeles County Department of the Medical Examiner.
