Collison Investigation Detail detectives are investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred on Sept. 27, 2025 resulting in the death of a male adult.

At approximately 10:50 p.m, officers responded to the area of Willow Street and Easy Avenue regarding an injury traffic collision involving a single vehicle.

Upon officer's arrival, they located a 2002 Toyota Camry in the center median of Willow Street at Easy Avenue which had struck a tree. The driver, a single occupant, had been removed by other citizens who rendered aid. The driver was later transported to a local hospital by Long Beach Fire Department personnel, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The preliminary investigation revealed the driver of the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Willow Street when it drove onto the center median and collided with a tree. Prior to the collision, witnesses observed the vehicle driving erratically and swerving between lanes. There were no other vehicles involved.

At this time, alcohol and speed are being investigated as possible contributing factors to the collision.

The identity of the driver, a 60 year old resident of Long Beach, is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact LBPD Collision Investigation Detail Detective Joseph Johnson at (562) 570-7355.
