Collision Investigation Detectives are investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred on October 17, 2025, that resulted in the death of an adult male.
At approximately 6:23 a.m., officers responded to Hayes Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway regarding an injury traffic collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian. Officers located the adult male pedestrian, and immediately rendered life-saving aid, until relieved by paramedics from the Long Beach Fire Department. Despite these efforts, the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the pedestrian was crossing Pacific Coast Highway at Hayes Av when he was struck by a 2023 Ford F150, driven by a 40-year-old resident of Wilmington, travelling eastbound. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
At this time, speed, distraction, or impairment are not considered contributing factors in the collision.
The identity of the decedent is being withheld pending notification of next kin by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.
