On Saturday, September 24, 2016, at approximately 6:43 p.m., Long Beach Police were dispatched to the area of Redondo Avenue and 11th Street regarding an injury traffic collision, involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
Arriving officers located a male pedestrian who sustained significant injuries. Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived shortly thereafter and transported the pedestrian to a local hospital.
The preliminary investigation revealed Minh H. Do, 60 years old and a resident of Long Beach, was walking eastbound across Redondo Avenue, north of 11th Street, at the area of the marked crosswalk. At the same time, a 2013 Acura TSX, being driven by a 37-year-old resident of Los Angeles, was traveling in the #1 lane southbound Redondo Avenue, south of Anaheim Street, and collided with Mr. Do. The driver remained at the scene.
On September 25, 2016, Mr. Do succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
