The City of Long Beach is helping connect residents to part-time and full-time positions as part of the company’s effort to hire 1,400 employees for Vons, Albertsons, and Pavilions stores across Southern California.

Today, a hiring event took place at the Vons Store located at 600 at 600 E. Broadway, in downtown Long Beach. Over the course of five hours, over 350 job seekers met with representatives from Albertsons, Vons, and Pavilions. Those who were unable to attend the event are still encouraged to apply for the positions. Visit www.albertsons.com/our-company/employment-positions to apply.

“This was an opportunity for Long Beach residents to connect to good, local jobs, at the flagship store in downtown Long Beach and beyond,” said Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia. “These jobs come with many benefits, as part of a growing company. We are proud to partner with Vons, Albertsons and Pavilions on this hiring event.

Employment fairs, job training, and youth programs are all part of the City’s renewed workforce development approach, led by its workforce agency, Pacific Gateway. This work has included the launch of the Mayor’s Internship Challenge, aimed at helping businesses strengthen their local talent pipeline, and other initiatives.

“Long Beach has been a great partner in helping us connect to candidates to fill these positions. We look forward to hiring local residents and continuing our work with the City,” said Carlos Illingworth, Albertsons|Vons|Pavilions Director of Communications.
