Long Beach, CA – The City of Long Beach Public Works Department has launched the highly anticipated Elevate ’28 website, a platform designed to provide regular updates on the City’s transformative infrastructure initiatives across over 180 unique projects. The Elevate ’28 Infrastructure Investment Plan, approved as part of the City’s Fiscal Year 2024 Budget, which enhanced the City’s existing five-year infrastructure plan to revitalize the City’s infrastructure, prepare Long Beach to be a showcase for the world during the 2028 Olympics, and continue to improve and enhance City parks, major corridors and visitor-serving areas.

“As we continue to make progress on improving our city’s assets, like parks, roads, and libraries, this new platform will provide transparency and accountability to our community, ensuring folks are informed about the progress we are making in transforming our city's infrastructure,” said Mayor Rex Richardson. “The Elevate 28 plan also reiterates our commitment as a Venue City for the LA28 Games, while enhancing the health, livability and wellbeing of our community now and for future generations.”

Following an update to the Mayor and Long Beach City Council on Feb. 6, 2024, the Department unveiled the Elevate ’28 Infrastructure Investment Plan’s dedicated online home, now live and accessible to the public at lbelevate28.com. This dynamic website serves as a central communication hub, offering comprehensive insights into the Elevate ’28 project portfolio and empowering residents to engage actively in the city’s development. The website features infrastructure initiatives spanning eight categories: 2028 Olympic Legacy; Community and Cultural Investments; Gold Medal Park Refresh Projects; Mobility; Park Improvements; Public Facilities; Right of Way/Water Quality/Climate Action Plan; and Critical Facilities/Grant Match Funding Reserve/Other Critical Needs.

Key features of the Elevate ’28 website include:

  • Detailed project information: Visitors can explore individual project pages, providing in-depth details such as scope, budget, location, target construction timelines, funding status and project phase updates.
  • Intuitive Search Functionality: The website enables users to easily navigate the extensive Elevate ’28 project catalog through multiple search options, including council district, project category and an interactive map view.
  • Quarterly Updates: To ensure transparency, project information and photos will be updated on a quarterly basis, providing insights into progress and milestones achieved. As these projects evolve from planning to completion, project photos will be added to document their progress.
  • Power BI Data Table: Leveraging advanced data visualization tools, the website features a Power BI data table, allowing users to filter and analyze Elevate ‘28 information accurately and with greater detail.

“The website will provide regular updates on our progress, ensuring transparency and engagement as we work to enhance mobility, park improvements, public facilities and address critical needs related to water quality, climate action and more,” said Eric Lopez, Director of Public Works. “This is a pivotal moment for our city as we prepare to host events for the 2028 Olympics, and we are committed to building a vibrant and resilient Long Beach for generations to come."

As the City embarks on this transformative infrastructure journey, residents and stakeholders are encouraged to explore the Elevate ’28 website and engage actively in Long Beach’s development.
