Long Beach, CA – The City of Long Beach Office of the City Manager and Department of Public Works are hosting a community meeting to provide a comprehensive overview of the Belmont Beach and Aquatics Center Project at the coastline site of the former Belmont Plaza Pool near Granada Beach. The community meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Will Rogers Middle School Auditorium (365 Monrovia Ave, Long Beach, CA 90803).

Notable project updates will be shared during the community meeting such as the facility’s design, a proposed financing strategy, and the development of various operational documents for the long-term management of the facility, among other key milestones and topics. There will also be an opportunity for community members to share their feedback at the meeting. Limited street parking available adjacent to the school, subject to availability, with additional parking available at Marine Stadium located at 5255 Paoli Way. Meeting attendees are encouraged to carpool, take public transit or walk to the meeting location. Space is limited inside the auditorium.

Although the Belmont Beach and Aquatics Center Project has encountered a series of challenges over the past few years, the City is committed to delivering an inspiring aquatics facility for all age groups that will engage, instruct and train public aquatics users, while providing equitable access to recreational water space for the larger Long Beach community.

More information, including a detailed timeline of the project milestones, is available at belmontpool.com. Media inquiries may be directed to Joy Contreras, Community Relations Officer, Department of Public Works, at 562.570.6739 or Joy.Contreras@longbeach.gov.
