Long Beach, CA - After closing COVID-19 testing sites on June 1 and June 2 to ensure the safety of the public and medical professionals, most City-run sites will reopen tomorrow, June 3.

The City of Long Beach is also expanding the accessibility of COVID-19 testing with a new mobile service for residents who are not able to travel, including individuals at personal residences and those at skilled nursing facilities, long-term care facilities and sober living homes.

“We still have a health crisis in Long Beach and it’s critical that we get back to testing residents,” said Mayor Robert Garcia.

Test sites to reopen, with modified hours, on June 3 include:

• Long Beach City College - Pacific Coast Campus (1305 E. Pacific Coast Hwy.), 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Cabrillo High School (2001 Santa Fe Ave.), 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Jordan High School (6500 Atlantic Ave.), 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Jordan Plus (171 W. Bort St.) and St. Mary Medical Center (1050 Linden St.) did not close and remain open. New appointments are required for all testing sites and can be made online or by calling 562.570.INFO (4636).

Testing at Veterans Memorial Stadium remains closed until further notice.

The Rapid Assessment Clinic at LBCC Pacific Coast Campus will also reopen June 3. Hours will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The new, free mobile testing service is intended for residents who are homebound due to mobility or transportation issues. The mobile unit will also benefit those who reside in congregate living facilities that lack on-site staff to administer tests or facilities unable to test independently. Tests, which are administered with a nasal swab, are also available for caregivers of individuals who are homebound. Mobile testing services are being provided by the Collection Transportation and Analysis Team (CTAT), a specialized team of medical professionals with the National Guard. The National Guard deployment is solely a humanitarian effort and its purpose is to enhance public health and City services by providing additional staff support. The National Guard was initially deployed to Long Beach in April to perform logistical and administrative humanitarian support functions. Previous functions include assisting medical staff, managing incoming and outgoing traffic at the City’s Rapid Assistance Clinic (RAC), and assisting with housekeeping and meal services at the temporary shelters.

To date, Long Beach has conducted over 39,000 COVID-19 tests through four City-run sites, St. Mary Medical Center, a state-run site at Jordan Plus High School and private labs. In addition to these public testing options, individuals can receive COVID-19 testing through their healthcare provider.
