The below press release was updated April 13, 2022, at 2:30 p.m. with the correct parking rate of $9 per vehicle.

Long Beach, CA – With 388-acres of open space, picnicking areas, playgrounds, bicycle trails and many other amenities, Easter Sunday, taking place this year on April 17, is the busiest day of the year at El Dorado East Regional Park (7550 E. Spring St.). To better prepare for a visit to El Dorado, and for the safety of all who visit, the Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine offers the following park rules and tips to help visitors make the most of their day at El Dorado Park:

  • Park hours are from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. All visitors must leave the park by closing.
  • The holiday parking rate is $9 per car, cash/credit accepted (no refunds).
  • Parking on the grass is prohibited, unless in designated areas; vehicles parked in unauthorized grassy areas will be cited or towed.
  • Park entrance will be on both the south and north side of Spring Street. There will be right turns only into the gates.
  • Extra parking and picnic space will be available in Area 3, north of Wardlow Road. Please follow the signs to the overflow lot. Parking may not be near your picnic location.
  • Unloading and loading areas will be available along the interior roads. Please do not block traffic flow. Drops-offs or unloading are not permitted on Spring Street or Wardlow Road.
  • Arrive early; park officials will close the gates to vehicles once the lots are at capacity, and vehicles exiting the park may not be granted re-entry if park closes for capacity.
  • Barbecue grills, picnic areas and other amenities are available on a first-come, first served basis.

The El Dorado Frontier Theme Park and El Dorado Nature Center will be closed on Sunday, April 17. Long Beach Animal Care Services will be open between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
