Long Beach, CA – The City of Long Beach recently learned of a nationwide cybersecurity incident experienced by OnSolve CodeRED(CodeRED), a third-party emergency notification service used by local governments across the country to send emergency alerts. In Long Beach, theCodeRED platform is branded as “Alert Long Beach” and is used to issue alerts to Long Beach residents via phone call, email and text message. The CodeRED incident is not related to, and did not impact, the City’s technology or infrastructure.
CodeRED was recently acquired by Crisis24, a risk management company, that transitioned customer data from Onsolve CodeRED to the Crisis24 platform – now branded as CodeRED by Crisis24 (Crisis24). The attack occurred on the old Onsolve CodeRED platform, not the current Crisis24 platform, and may have compromised user data across the nation including names, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers and/or passwords associated with CodeRED user profiles. Per Crisis24, the current platform was not breached, is secure and data was not compromised.
According to Crisis24, personal information such as date of birth and social security numbers were not impacted as users do not provide that information to access the platform. Crisis24 cautions Long Beach residents who may have reused their Alert Long Beach password for any other personal or business accounts to change those passwords immediately.
Customers with concerns or questions about this incident can contact Crisis24 directly at 866.939.0911 or crsupport@crisis24.com.
The City is communicating with Crisis24 to fully understand the cause and scope of the breach. The City will continue to coordinate with local and state partners to issue Wireless Emergency Alerts to the community as needed.
